This shrine is one of the most famous shrines in the eastern part of the nation along with Kashima-
Jingu Shrine.
The main shrine is styled in "Sangensha-nagare-zukuri" and was built in 1700 by the fifth Tokugawa
Shogun, Tsunayoshi. "Ro-mon Gate" which is painted vermilion is also beautiful. Both structures are
designated as important cultural assets by the national government.
A Treasury Hall houses "Kaiju-budo-kyo"(a clasical mirror), whichi is designated as a national treasure.
The mirror is one of the three most famous mirrors in Japan. Many old documents and art crafts are
exhibited in the hall.
